While most adidas NMD R1 sneakers are made with a mesh upper and neoprene heel, the NMD R1 ‘Tech Ink’ is a rare NMD with a suede heel counter. Released on October 1, 2016, the sneaker has a core color of ‘Tech Ink,’ a darker shade of baby blue. The NMD R1 ‘Tech Ink’ was released alongside four other NMD R1 colorways — ‘Core Black,’ ‘Vapour Steel,’ ‘Tech Earth,’ and ‘Collegiate Navy.’
