Inspired by the luggage he encountered while working at London’s Savoy Hotel, Guccio Gucci founded his eponymous house as a leather goods manufacturer in Florence in 1921, specializing in luxury saddles and saddlebags before transitioning to luxury luggage. Since being appointed in 2015, creative director Alessandro Michele's maximalist apparel, luxurious bags, baroque jewelry and sportswear-inspired sneakers have led to a cultural rediscovery of the historic brand.
