Richard Novak, Jay Shuirman, Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson founded Independent Truck Company in 1978 to service skaters looking for more resilient hardware. Published in 2004, the hardcover book 'Built to Grind: 25 Years of Hardcore Skateboarding' looks back on the first quarter century of the brand’s history, using archival photography and design diagrams to chronicle the label’s innovative approach. Released by High Speed Productions, the volume was limited to a 1,000 copy initial print run.
