The book begins with the 1940s and chronicles the influence of muses like Twiggy in the 1960s, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell in the 1980s, and Kate Moss in the 1990s. Also included are designs from Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Comme des Garçons and Marc Jacobs. Consisting of 224 pages and published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art & Yale University Press, this first edition features a photograph of Linda Evangelista by Steven Meisel for a Dolce & Gabbana SS91 campaign on the cover.
