1AV Print – Green Sun (83/99), Isamu Noguchi x FUTURA2000
Isamu Noguchi began designing his Akari light sculptures in 1951 with Ozeki & Co., Ltd. Produced to this day by the same company in Gifu, Japan, the Akari series reinterprets the aesthetics of traditional Japanese lanterns with contemporary functionality and forms. Manufactured by Ozeki & Co., Ltd., the Akari print series showcases the abstract designs that Noguchi created for a selection of patterned Akari light sculptures. Hand-painted by FUTURA2000 in collaboration with The Noguchi Museum as a followup to the pair’s "Futura Akari" exhibition, this Akari monoprint brings the NYC artist's preferred mediums of acrylic, marker and aerosol to Noguchi’s screen-printed design. Inspired by the Akari 1AV, the print measures 24" x 19" and is numbered 83 of 99.
