Scenes From GREATEST and Barragán’s Intimate Mexico City Dinner
Colliding the Mexican label’s surrealist and post-apocalyptic sensibilities with Michelin-starred chef Elena Reygadas’ culinary traditions.
Last week in Mexico City, GREATEST and Victor Barragán hosted an intimate candlelit dinner to celebrate the launch of the magazine’s forthcoming ninth issue. Set within a leafy restored villa in the Roma district where close friend Elena Reygadas’ Michelin-starred restaurant Rosetta lives, the “FILÁNTROPO” event combined the brand’s subversive codes with the issue’s theme of innovation.
Mexico City creatives and friends of the brand came together for the evening, including artistic duo Asma, artist Samuel Guerrero and designer Malena Foyo. Served against the backdrop of an installation inspired by Barragán’s surreal 22-page editorial in the upcoming magazine, a four-course feast by Reygadas transformed local ingredients into works of imagination—watermelons carved into floral masterpieces, shockingly purple potatoes topped with blushing beetroot, and glistening slices of kampachi arranged into the shape of swimming fish.
A distressed cap emblazoned with the word “GOREATEST” debuted as a memento from the event, riffing on the GREATEST logomark and the GORE jersey pieces from Barragán’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Somewhere between a dinner party and an immersive experience, the evening was a joyful celebration of Mexican cuisine, culture and creativity, shaped by Barragán’s vision of nature and human connection.
