Try to imagine punk without Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, or mod without Mary Quant. Music is so intertwined with fashion—and vice versa—that it’s almost impossible to think of one without thinking of the other.
Then there are the true collaborations. Every season, designers reach out to artists to team up on runway soundtracks, special projects and other kinds of genre-bending installations. With the return of fashion shows, we chatted with musicians Sofia Bolt, Visionist and Schacke to learn more about what it’s like working with and composing music for fashion designers.
