A Brief History of Speed' commemorates 40 years of athletic innovation. The book charts the legacy of Nike footwear, showcasing how the brand's technology evolved over roughly four decades. Part celebration and part chronological reference, the book includes a range of iconic and lesser-known silhouettes, including 1972's Moon Shoe, 2001's Air Zoom Katana and the 2003 edition of the Nike Mayfly. Published in 2004 as a companion to the "Genealogy of Speed" exhibition, the 270 page mini-encyclopedia is considered a particularly rare piece of Nike media.
