The legacy of the Air Jordan 1 is the legacy of sneakers. Designed by Nike legend Peter Moore, the silhouette changed the role of sneakers in popular culture when a young Michael Jordan laced up a pair for the first time in 1984. The silhouette immediately captured the imagination of MJ and basketball fans around the world, standing out on the hardwood even amongst the grainy aesthetics of ’80s broadcast television.
