Among the few positives of the global pandemic has been a rediscovery of the great outdoors. The fresh air has become a source of comfort for even the most indoorsy types, so it's no surprise fashion has followed suit with the rise of gorpcore.

Coined by Jason Chen in The Cut, gorpcore, short for “good ol’ raisins and peanuts,” is named after the hikers who unintentionally pioneered the aesthetic. But gorpcore isn’t just for outdoorsmen; the trend meets at the intersection of utility and fashion, with puffers, fleeces and practical footwear serving as staples of the look. Through winter, gorpcore pieces offer both style and warmth, whether dining outdoors on city streets or camping in untouched forests. Like any good hiker knows, there’s no such thing as bad weather—only bad clothing.

From Moncler to Supreme, check out our top selects for constructing a full gorpcore look this season.

Moncler 1952 Edogawa Jacket 'Black'

It’s no surprise luxury Italian skiwear brand Moncler would be leading the charge into gorpcore. With its neutral color palette and utilitarian finishes like zip-up pockets and neck coverage, this puffer, made in collaboration with Japanese brand and wander, is the missing piece for a winter hike in the mountains.

A long stint outside requires plenty of supplies. Outdoor titan The North Face partners with iconic Italian fashion house Gucci to bring a backpack that’s equal parts chic and practical, whether you’re carrying a First-Aid kit or picnic supplies.

Supreme Crochet Beanie 'Orange'

Anyone who’s braved a brutal winter knows that heat escapes from the head. Keep warm with this colorful knit beanie from Supreme.

Supreme x The North Face Studded Nuptse Vest 'Red'

Perfect for layering, this Supreme x The North Face puffer vest is an ideal piece to help transition out of winter and into the brisk early days of spring.

Salomon XT-6 'Quarry Cumin'

French sportswear company Salomon’s contribution to gorpcore aesthetics cannot be overstated. The XT-6s in particular are no exception. With thick soles and no-tie laces, these are the four-wheel drive of sneakers.
