The New Balance XC-72 ‘Aluminum’ features a mostly neutral color scheme on a running shoe that brings together past and future. An oversized ‘N’ logo in white leather dominates the tan nylon upper, overlaid with tonal suede at the forefoot and charcoal grey suede along the heel. Contrasting pops of color arrive via a pink microfiber tongue, teal mesh on the heel tab, and wedge-shaped orange mesh insert atop the toe box. A wraparound gum rubber heel clip gives way to a beige foam midsole, supported by a split rubber outsole that twins traction patterns from the XC15 and 375.
