A behind-the-scenes look at the inaugural competition featuring the fastest women in the world.

New York’s Icahn Stadium set the stage for an evening of athletic excellence, with American Olympic 200m champion Gabby Thomas, Kenyan 1500m world record holder Faith Kipyegon and Olympic 400m champion Marileidy Paulino just some of the names participating. Aiming to add fun and glamor to the sport, ATHLOS sets itself apart from competitions like the Olympics and Diamond League with its unprecedented prize purse and a relaxed, casual atmosphere for fans.&nbsp;

As the runners took the stage, each was accompanied by a personalized song curated by DJ D-Nice. Lupita Nyong’o and Shonda Rhimes watched the race trackside, while Megan Thee Stallion closed the evening with a performance. In total, 36 athletes competed across events including the 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m, with victors taking home $60,000 each—an unheard of number for women’s track—and receiving a silver crown from iconic NYC jewelers Tiffany &amp; Co.

“One of the biggest reasons to start ATHLOS was because of these athletes,” said ATHLOS founder Alexis Ohanian. “These women are amazing to work with, they care so much and are so dynamic; they deserve the biggest and best possible platform for their talents—yearly. My goal with ATHLOS NYC is to do right by the athletes, and do right by the fans. Then we’re going to earn the right to do it another time while building something bigger.”&nbsp;
