Ginza Miniature, Masanori Umeda for Memphis Milano
Ettore Sottsass founded Memphis Milano in 1980, subverting conventions of modernity and minimalism to develop a bold aesthetic inspired by the art deco and pop art movements. Created by Masanori Umeda in 1982 as part of the collective, the original Ginza design served as a storage unit and bookshelf, imagined in the shape of a robot. Built with two drawers in the middle block, the "head," "arms" and lower central section functioned as additional container space. This detailed miniature recreation of the Ginza stands at 1:6 scale and measures 29cm H x 25cm W x 7cm D.
