LeBron James’ hometown of Akron is often dubbed ‘Rubber City,’ the Ohio city having established itself as an industry leader in rubber and tire production throughout the early half of the 20th century. To honor Akron’s historic reputation, Nike dropped the LeBron 13 ‘Rubber City’ in 2016. The high-top sneaker features a sock-like inner sleeve, Hyperposite panels across the upper and a Zoom Air midsole. Along with red speckled detailing, a molecule emblem appears on the heel, the design thought to be a reference to chemicals used in the production of rubber.
