The Wmns Air Max 1 'Desert Sand' comes in a light colorway with modified contrast to give the classic an understated yet distinctive look from its predecessors. This version uses the time-tested leather-and-mesh construction, but the connecting midfoot support is the same color as the mesh, subtly altering the tooling style. Tinker Hatfield designed the first AM1 in 1987 after visiting the Centre Pompidou in Paris, resulting in the first Nike sneaker to show visible Air Sole cushioning.
