Capsule x Barcelona Design, Shiva Vase by Ettore Sottsass
Created by Ettore Sottsass in 1971, the Shiva vase combines suggestive forms with the Italian designer's penchant for playful colors and geometric shapes. A precursor to his days as the founder of Memphis Milano and inspired by trips to India in the 1960s, the ceramic piece takes inspiration from the Hindu deity as well as the "lingam," or an abstract representation of the god, often represented as a phallic-like object. This special edition of the Shiva is produced in a limited edition of 999 and rendered in cerulean blue as a collaboration between Capsule and BD Barcelona.
