In October 2021, Heron Preston unveiled a significant breakthrough in sustainable style. Partnering with technology company Zellerfeld and independent sneaker designer Mr. Bailey, Heron Preston created the HERON01, a slip-on sneaker made entirely with 3D printing. Generally, 3D printing allows for a reduction of material use, as the HERON01 is made without any seams, stitching or glue. Specifically, the silhouette is also fully recyclable: At the end of its lifespan, Zellerfeld will take the shoe back and use it to create yet another shoe as part of its Beta Program.
